Acro classes often include training for basic stunts like handstands, bridges, and cartwheels, as well as more advanced tumbling, balances, and partner lifts.
Ballet
Ballet dance is a classical art form that epitomizes grace, precision, and storytelling through movement. Dancers, often adorned in elaborate costumes and pointe shoes, showcase exquisite lines and fluid movements while conveying emotions and narratives. Ballet technique emphasizes a strong foundation of turnout, alignment, and control, with movements including graceful leaps, delicate pirouettes, and expressive gestures.
Collegiate Dance Team Prep
Prepare for college dance team auditions with our collegiate dance team prep class. Refine your technique in jazz, hip-hop, and pom styles, learn team routines, sharpen tryout skills, and boost your confidence for a successful tryout. Ideal for students aiming to progress towards a collegiate dance team! This class will be available for dancers in 9th through 12th grade.
Clogging
Clogging is a vibrant and high-energy dance class that stands out with its distinct style, terminology, and specialized shoes. Unlike tap dancing, clogging emphasizes the rhythmic percussion created by metal taps on the shoes, producing a lively and syncopated sound. Dancers will learn the unique steps, footwork, and choreography that make clogging both challenging and exhilarating. Contemporary/Lyrical
A contemporary/lyrical dance class is a fusion of two expressive and emotive dance styles that blend fluidity, athleticism, and storytelling. It combines elements of contemporary dance, which emphasizes freedom of movement and artistic exploration, with lyrical dance, which incorporates emotive qualities and often draws inspiration from music and lyrics. This class offers dancers a space for artistic exploration, personal expression, and emotional connection.
Hip Hop
Hip hop dance is an electrifying and culturally rich form of movement. It encompasses a diverse range of styles, including breaking, locking, popping, and freestyle, each with its own unique characteristics and influences.
At its core, hip hop dance is characterized by its raw energy, improvisation, and connection to music. Dancers express themselves through a combination of rhythmic footwork, intricate body isolations, and fluid transitions, often responding directly to the beat and lyrics of hip hop music.
Jazz
Jazz dance often fuses elements of ballet, modern dance, and street dance into their choreography, creating a diverse and eclectic art form. Jazz dance is known for its emphasis on rhythm, isolation, and musicality. Dancers use their bodies as instruments, interpreting the beat and melody of the music through sharp isolations, fluid transitions, and explosive jumps and turns.
Modern
Modern dance is a creative, contemporary art form that uses abstract movements to express ideas, feelings, and emotions. It originated in the early 1900s as a rebellion against the rigid structure of ballet, and modern dancers sought out more natural, fluid movements. Modern dance can incorporate many characteristics, including fluidity, expression, weight, and momentum.
Musical Theatre
Musical Theatre is a jazz-based class filled with Broadway style dancing and music. Classes incorporate the style of dance one would typically see on a Broadway stage. This form of dancing emphasizes learning performance skills such as connecting with the audience and facial expressions.
Pointe
Pointe dance is an advanced form of ballet where dancers perform on the tips of their toes, wearing specially designed pointe shoes.Pointe work creates the illusion of weightlessness and ethereal grace, as dancers execute movements with precision and control while balancing on the small platform of their toes. The iconic pointe shoes, reinforced with a box and shank, provide support and stability for the dancer's feet, allowing them to execute demanding steps such as relevés, pirouettes, and intricate footwork.
Pom
In Pom class, dancers will start with the foundational techniques of Pom dance, emphasizing sharp, synchronized movements and precise formations. Explore arm movements, kicks, and jumps that characterize Pom style. Dancers will also get an introduction into the basics of Jazz dance, focusing on fluidity, style, and musicality. Learn Jazz walks, isolations, and basic Jazz positions to develop your dance vocabulary.
Strength & Technique
Strength & Technique class is a structured and focused session designed to refine dancers' technical skills, enhance their physical abilities, and deepen their understanding of movement principles. The goal is to break down movement sequences step by step, guiding students through proper alignment, execution, and dynamics. They provide corrections and feedback to help dancers refine their technique, develop precision, and overcome technical challenges.
Tap
Tap dance is a rhythmic and dynamic form of dance characterized by the percussive sounds of metal taps on the dancer's shoes striking the floor. Dancers use their feet as instruments, creating intricate rhythms and patterns through a combination of heel and toe taps, slides, brushes, and shuffles.
